Last week I submitted a photo to National Geographic’s Your Shot contest. I didn’t really think I would make the cut but thought what the hell all they can do is not choose it.

I went to the site tonight to check out the weekly pics for last week and it turns out I did make it! I got chosen as one of the Daily Dozen shots last week. Head over to the National Geographic Your Shot Voting Machine to boost my ratings. As you can see I haven’t even cracked the 5 out of 10 marker, I guess it can only go up from here. Voting goes through the end of the month but the winner has a chance to be published in the magazine, which as a subscriber since the early teens would be a dream come true.

This Had To Have Cost More New In 1984

So my room mate came up on one of those once in a decade situations today. He went to some liquor store in the seedy dark heart of the valley and spotted this pristine 1984 Los Angeles Olympics velcro wallet on his way out. He asked the clerk how much? Much to his amusement she couldn’t believe he was interested.

I would expect to see this at any store or on ebay for anywhere between $10 and $20 for sure. But in her surprising response she asked for $1. After purchasing a some candy and a soda one minute prior with his remaining $5 he was left in quite the predicament. So he asked the clerk to please hold the wallet and he would be right back.

After one quick trip around the block he was back with the best dollar that he’ll spend this year.

Loneliest Feeling Ever

I was headed to Burbank for lunch on Sunday and my Tomos broke down on Cahuenga. A large ping sound followed by whirring, that’s normal right? I had to pedal home, good times. Lucky for me it was all downhill so I was able to coast 80% of the way. Looks like I’ll be headed to Choke soon.

Here’s a fun propaganda film from the Civil Defense agency back in the 50’s. It’s pretty much 9 minutes of lies cloaked in patriotism. Definitely worth a view if you got the time. Quite the eye opener.

I waste so much time online, I’m sure you do too. I think it happens to everyone. You find a site like Code Organ and you can easily lose 20 minutes of your, no seriously I’m gonna knock this project out, time. You type in a url into the bar and hit play. A unique song comes back for every url. Go ahead, I mean what were you really gonna do in the next 20 minutes anyway?
