I was searching around the ol’ interwebs last night looking for some inspiration for a design I’m working on for a friend. I found this in the LA Times archives. This can was being sold on eBay.

What a solid rep we’ve had here in LA for quite some time, where stars and asthma live. Hawt.

“These were apparently sold in the Fun Shop at Farmers Market and produced by Carlton (or Carleton) Young’s Los Angeles Smog Corp. Hal Tamblin was listed as a vice president, according to a 1962 item in The Times.”

The Neptunes

I was talking about production the other night with my roommate. We were both telling stories of how we had to stand up in defense of The Neptunes when talking to other people about music. Which should be mind boggling to you. I mean I still hear N.O.R.E. “Superthug” when I’m out that should say enough right there. I bet you forgot they made that.

Sooooooo. I was telling another friend of mine about the discussion I had the night prior and she sent me the youtube links to this Neptunes track I had never heard before.

It’s definitely at the top of the Neptunes beat heap. How this was never released is beyond me. Pharrell needs to go back in the studio and make this a single.

This is Pharrell in the studio with Natasha Ramos while he makes the beat and comes up with the melody. She looks completely uncomfortable, like she’s never been in a writing session before. Gold. That’s just the Producer of The Decade in his prime right there don’t get scared now…

Rock The Bells

I went to Rock The Bells yesterday in hell quality heat in San Bernardino. It had to have been one of the worst concert experiences possible. Took 45 minutes to get our tickets at will call in a line of no more than 15 people, it was rough. It seemed very unorganized. Music was good just about everything else wasn’t.

When we got in we went to check out Street Sweeper Social Club (Check out the side stage action below). Then we caught A Tribe Called Quest which was awesome because I had never seen them before. “Lyrics To Go” is one of my favorite songs so seeing it live was crazy.

Capped off the night at El Compadre in Echo Park.

The Rolly Coffee Table was designed by Matt Carr and is 32”x16”. The hidden storage compartment with sliding door pop this thing off.
